Entertainment in Susukino Area

 I will introduce famous places and events in Susukino known as an entertainment area in Sapporo.

'Nikka' (the center of the picture) is the randmark of Susukino. 

Many local people meet up at the place under the sign.

'Ramen Yokocho' is the alley which there are many ramen shops. 

It is famous as a tour spot and you can enjoy eating many kinds of Sapporo ramen.

My recommended shop is 'Shirakaba Sansou' (the picture shows '白樺山荘')

It is popular from local people and Miso taste is the best. 

It is also known as 'Hangover food.'

Many drunkers go to eat ramen after drinking.

In summer, the Susukino Festival is held.

About 100 booths are launching on the road in Susukino area.

People enjoy drinking and eating food outside.

In this festival, there is the event, called 'Oiran Douchu.'

'Oiran' which means a courtesan existed during the edo period (18th century) for one of the entertainments.

Qualification is a woman living in Sapporo or nearby and being 18-30 years old.

The lady chosen by lottery can walk wearing kimono on the main load in Susukino.

The festival takes place from begining of August for 3 days every year. 

In winter, about 100 ice sculptures are made and set up by Japanese militaries or volunteers.
