Furano, the center of Hokkaido

"Furano" is a rual town and known as beautiful landscape.

My some relatives live in Furano, so I used to go to Furano every summer.

The best time to visit is July because lavender is in full bloom.

Lavender is cultivated in Frano for a over half century.

Lavender begins blooming in late June and the peak is from around mid July to early August.

Nowadays, many tourists vist to view its field every summer.

There are many farms, and the "Tomita Farm" is the most popular farm.

Tomita farm is free to enter and has a caffe and shop beside Lavender field.

You can look around the field with the 'Lavender bus' for 15 minutes.

In winter, many people enjoy skiing.

Furano ski area is also one of the famous resort spots in Hokkaido.

"Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU" is my recommended hotel.

This resort area consists of  hotel towers, restaurants, a chapel, massage&spa salons, hot springs, a swimming pool, ski areas, and Ice village.

In summer, there are golf courses.

'Ice village,' the activity area is made of ice and snow.

It also has an Ice skate rink.

Furano has produced local wines since 1972.

The factory, called "Furano Wine Kojo" is located on the hill overlooking the town.

You can taste it until you are buzzed. lol

I LOVE Furano wine♡

If you want to enjoy skiing or viewing a lot of nature&Lavender, and local wines,
I recommend you to go to Furano!

Hakodate, a south area of Hokkaido

Hakodate is the third largest city in Hokkaido.

Hakodate was selected as Japan’s most attractive city in 2015.

It has a beautiful night view, fresh seafood, historical buildings and a lot of nature.

The photo is the night view from Mt. Hakodate.

You must go to there!

The ropeway is the method to up the mountain and it takes three minutes to the top.

During that time, you can view the entire city.

The Bay Area is one of the popular tour spots too.

There are historiacal buildings used as a warehouse more than one hundred years ago.

Now the buildings are used as restaurants or shops.

"Goryokaku" is the typical park in Hakodate.

The park is designed the star-shaped.

It was constructed to set a regitional office for the central government in 1864.

In spring, many people visit to watch cherry blossoms.

You could enjoy Japanes experience in Goryokaku.

"Hakodate Asaichi" is the fisherman's market of the morning.

You can eat and buy fresh seafood at many variety of the shops.

I recommend to eat very very fresh Squid.

Fresh squid is translucent.

You can experience fishing.

Hakodate is also famous as the Hot Spring area, called "Yunokawa Hot Spring."

If you come to Hakodate, should stay at Hotel or 'Ryokan' with hot spring.

Some of them is standing along ocean, so you can enjoy hot spring viewing ocean.

Hot Springs in Noboribetsu

Noboribetsu in southwestern Hokkaido is one of the best-known Hot Springs.

There are 9 different kinds of water, containing minerals, such as sulfer, salt, and iron.

This is called "the Jigoku Valley" (hell valley) and it gives an image like hell.

Yellowy gray volcanic gas seeps from the surface of the rocks, and smell of the entire place is strong sulfur.

In fall, you can enjoy seeing landscape is turned by autumnal leaves.

The resort town consists of numerous hotels and 'Ryokan' with Hot Springs.

Above picttures are 'Roten-buro'(outdoor Hot Sptings) which is one of the most popluar types of Hot Springs.

Water is maintained moderate temperatures in even winter.

Another tour spot is 'Bear Park.'

About 200 brown bears are raised at Bear Farm is located at the summit of Mt. Shihorei of the east of Noburibetsu.

'Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura' is a historical theme park highlighting the Edo Period.

They were called 'Ninja', secret agents active from the age of Wars to the Edo period.
They had skills called “Ninjyutsu”

'Nyan Mage' is the character of Date Jidaimura.

You can enjoy traditional games, activities, theaters, street performances, etc.

Many survenior shops or bars are standing along the road near hotels or Ryokan.

OTARU city

Otaru, a port city of Hokkadio is one of the famous tour spots.

It takes about 40 mins by driving a car on highway and 1hour by a train from Sapporo.

Features of Otaru are many historical buildings, fantastic glass's shops, and fresh seafood carried from near port of the bay.

Kitaichi Glass is famous shops and typical surverior. Total 6shops are there.

This is called 'Satsuma Kiriko,' a type of cut class in Japan.

I recommend it for gifts.

'Kitaichi Glass 3 gokan' (the 3rd shop of Kitaichi class) is the restaurant.

All lightings are lamps made of glass.

I usually drink beer to take a break here.

'LeTAO' is a famous cake shop.

It is known as the best Cheese cake made in Otaru.

In winter, there is the event, 'Otaru Yuki Akari.'

One hundred and thirty thousand candles are lighted around the town.

It is held beginning of February for a week every year.

Lastly, here is my FAVORITE place, 'Aotsuka Sholudo.'

Grilled fish, 'Nishin'(herring) is the local speciality. A staff grill it in front of the entrance.

There are also a lot of fresh seafood.

I recommend the trip to Otaru city when you come to Hokkaido!
